ABOUT ROB

A new chapter, shaped by curiosity.

I spent years building a life around corporate expectations, full calendars, and conventional definitions of success. Now I am finally exploring a question I have carried for most of my life: do I want to live overseas?

This 133-day journey will combine extraordinary travel with an extended stay in Vietnam, giving me the opportunity to experience everyday life there—not simply visit—and decide whether a longer move might be right for me.

THE QUESTION THAT CHANGED THINGS

What might life look like if I gave my curiosity I have always had more room?

For years, I built my life around a corporate career, full calendars, 80+ work weeks, and expectations that often define my success in the eyes of others. Then, six years ago, I had the privilege of beginning a new chapter working for myself. Somewhere along the way — and after receiving two new hips in my forties — I began asking a different question: what might life look like if I gave my curiosity of living overseas more room to actually occur?

I have always wanted to live overseas—not simply to visit, but to understand what everyday life somewhere else might feel like. I have modeled some of my travels in recent years to have a living experience.  After traveling to 30 countries, I’m ready to revisit a few familiar places, experience new ones, and explore the life-changing possibilities of a move to Vietnam.

I leave on December 27, 2026, and return on May 9, 2027. In between, I plan to travel through South Africa, Thailand, Hong Kong, China, Turkey, and Vietnam—with room for a few unexpected destinations along the way. Join me as I discover where thoughtful planning—and permission to change it—can lead.

The return ticket is booked. The life in between is still being written.

The next journey moves through South Africa, Thailand, Hong Kong, China, Turkey and Vietnam—with room for a few unexpected additions. Vietnam is the larger question: could an ordinary life there feel like home?

HOW I TRAVEL

Plan well.
Stay Curious

I love a strong itinerary. I also believe the itinerary works for you—not the other way around. These principles shape the stories, guides and planning services you will find here.

1. Plan with Intention

Good research creates direction. It should make the trip easier without making every hour immovable.

2. Leave room for curiosity

A conversation, a meal, a slower morning or a new recommendation may be better than what was originally planned.

3. Share what I know and find useful

The best advice is honest, practical and specific—even when it seems simple to an experienced traveler.
